My Migration Video

In Social Studies, we had to make a video about what Migration is,
including Pull Factor and Push Factor.

Migration means, people moving in different places to another, either temporary or permanent. Which is where the words Push Factor and Pull Factor comes in.

Push Factor is something pushing people away from their Town, City, or Country to another place. Pull Factor is something pulling people towards a new town, city, or country from where they used to live.

Now, all this happens by, Cultural, Economics, Social, Political, Environmental, and Natural.

Thoth (God of the Moon, Magic and Writing) Ancient Egyptians

In Social Studies, My class 10Mn had to pick a God of Egypt (All different, cannot be the same) and we needed to do a poster about him/her.

In this poster, it tell's you information about the God I chose, Thoth.

He is the god of the moon, magic and writing. What I found interesting about him is that the tale books about Thoth can teach a person and led the person to become the most powerful magician in the world.

Neolithic

In Social studies 10 Mn, we all had to make a poster about Neolithic OR Paleolithic. We get to choose. We had to make a poster using the site called Pikto Chart.

Stone Age Tools Intro

We watched this video in Social Studies. It shows us what tools were made in the Stone Age.

What problems did people face in the stone age?

-Life was difficult
-He lives in the thick forest
-There are dangerous animals there 
-Man did not know what to eat, or how to cook food
-Finding food
-Animals were stronger than them

What food did they eat?
Fruits 
Fish
Animals

What was used to hunt food?
Stones

What was difficult about using stones?
Stones were too heavy
They had no shape
They cant throw that far

What did they do about this problem?
They look for stones that are best to shape.
They worked out what stones could be used to shape

What kind of tools were used?
Stones there were many different shapes of stones so they would make it into a weapon by making it sharp. Each tool has a purpose in them.
They made, digging cutting and throwing tools.

Axe- For shopping trees

Are students addicted to their cellphones?

I feel that students can be addicted to their cellphones because, on their phones, they're always on social media. Some students always spend time in their room or at school on their phones, instead of walking around or play with the fresh air and talking with friends. They're always on Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat e.t.c. They'd get addicted to posting photos/videos and check who likes it or comments on it, and when they do, they'd probably go around on other people's post and like it or comment on it and that would probably take them for ages. The one thing that worries them is cyberbullying. This can cause a huge problem because, other than worrying about their studies, they worry about social media. It can also damage a students brain or cause pain on the body and on the eyes. This is why I feel that students can be addicted to their phones because, of social media.

How has technology change the way we do things

Technology has improved many things back in the olden days because, everything now with technology is perfect and easier. In technology you can write stories easier and quicker. It can also fix your spellings automatically. If you’re doing reports you can use your laptop to write your reports, but back in the olden days, people had to use paper and ink to write their reports. It was hard because everyone had to practice handwriting everyday in school so their writing can be perfect, especially the spellings. We also have cars to travel around the place. Cars are way more faster and easier. If you’re running late to school, or work, you can ask someone is your family to drop you off using their cars, back in the olden days, people use to ride on horses which was quite hard because, some people needed to control their horses so they could ride on them. For us students, technology made life much more easier because, we can use wifi. Wifi is what we use to go on google, youtube and create sites. It made it easier for us to work because, if we’re learning about a celebrity, we can search them up on google and type down the information about them, in our own words. Technology was made to make life easier, for those who were in the olden days, I wonder how life would be without technology.

My class 10Mn we had to do a second map and name it 10 worst countries using child soldiers, in Social Studies.Child Soldiers - Child soldiers are any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by a state or non-state armed group and used as fighters, cooks, suicide bombers, human shields, messengers, spies, or for sexual purposes.

My Paragraph(The slave trade triangle)

Paragraph: One

The Atlantic slave trade triangle was a disgusting way to enslave Africans and separate them away from their family. It took away their human rights to live a normal life because everything they had is taken away, their food, homes, and families. When the slave traders arrived to Africa from Europe, they had guns and weapons. They gave it to the African kings so they could buy their African men, women and children. This was called ‘The First Passage’. The African kings viewed the people they sold, not as fellow Africans, but criminals, debtors, or prisoners of war from rival tribes. When the slave traders had the African Slaves, they took them on a ship, this was where the disgusting part happens, which was called ‘The Middle Passage’.

Paragraph: 2

During the middle passage,, death, raping, murdering, suicide took place. All of those things were inhumane.Things like this were happening because, either the slaves weren’t listening or taking orders so the Europeans would whip them to death. The white men made the African women lay on their back so they could rape them, and the slaves drowned themselves to death because they never pictured their future to be like this and especially for their child. It was the worst thing no human could ever imagine. The slaves were all bunched up because the trader wanted to fit as many slaves as possible., they didn’t get enough food or water. All the Europeans on the ship were taking charge of every single slave. They’d tied their hands together and make them dance in front of everyone to humiliate them. Until finally the ship reached America. This is where their lives as a slave began.

Paragraph 3

When the ship landed on America, the slaves were immediately sold by the Americans. They were sold because the masters needed slave children to play with their children and the older ones were sold to make money or cleaning. The slave children were sold to play with the master's own children, leaving their own family. After getting sold as a slave, they are separated from your loved ones. The older slaves were sold to work on the field to pick up cotton and tobacco while other female slaves had to clean the master's house. If they did not pick enough or disobeyed their masters orders then they would be punished. When the Europeans had enough cotton and tobacco they’d travelled back to Europe to exchange the cotton and tobacco for weapons and money this was called the third passage.

Slave songs

Explain the feeling that you get when you listen to these songs?
I feel sad because I heard what they felt like as slaves. I can't imagine myself being in there place.I feel so guilty, listening to these songs, them working everyday 24 hours without resting, and here we are in school learning and making friends, but some of us don't even appreciate things we have in life. Think about others, not just yourself.

What kind of information about slavery did you learn from these songs?
That they get taken away from their families. They want freedom.
They were picking cotton all day everyday, and white people take them. They really want their old lives back. They want to lye down and taking breaks.


What can you relate to in any of these songs?
-Moses in the bible
-Me in the kitchen

What do you think the slaves are talking about in these songs?
The slaves are expressing their feelings to each other by singing(making up) songs.
Each song has meanings to them. Signals to escape.

When slaves were working on the field, they wanted to express their feelings. So they would sing songs, but make it up while singing. They weren't singing songs that were already written, they didn't write anything down, they just sang while working. 
Some of the songs they sang have meanings to it. 
E.g, 'Swing low Sweet chariot'

This is my favourite because, if you hear any slave singing this song on the field or at night, the Americans thought Oh it's a lovely Christian song, but actually they sing it when the case is clear, it's time to escape.(Smart)
This song would reference the way to the Underground Rail Road

Another good song is called 

'The River Jordan'
Meaning: Become the Ohio River, or the Mississippi, or another body of water that had to be crossed on the journey to freedom.

What is the Slave Trade Triangle? 

Slave Trade Triangle is also known as the Triangular Trading System, that operated from the late 16th to early 19th centuries, carrying slaves, cash crops, and manufactured goods between West Africa, Caribbean or American colonies and the European colonial powers, with the northern colonies of British North America, especially New England, sometimes taking over the role of Europe.

What is the First Passage?

The First Passage was from Europe to Africa. The cargo on this passage was guns and weapons.

What is the Middle Passage?

The Middle Passage is where Africans were taken to the Caribbean and sold. They were bartered for a ship-load of tobacco and cotton.

The rest of the slaves were shipped to the USA and processed for auction. It was here where the Cotton, Tobacco, Sugar Cane and other products slaves produced were put in ships.

What is the Third Passage? 

The Third Passage is when all the cotton, tobacco and other products are put back on ships and sent to Europe. Once the ships get to Europe, they are sold. Then more guns and weapons are purchased.

This week in Social Studies, we were making posters and we had to put our 5 favorite human rights and type why we picked it. I picked Rights to Marriage and Family, Rights to education, Rights to have a vacation after your work, and having the Rights to take responsible of our own actions.
